Roses for days.
Former Vogue creative director and all-around bad ass lady Grace Coddington teamed with Comme des Garçons on her very own perfume and it sounds just as lovely as the woman herself.
While we've watched The September Issue many times (it's the fashion magazine lover in us), one thing the film didn't convey was just how much Coddington loves the scent of roses. She and the classic floral scent go way, way back, which is why her fragrance aptly named Grace by Grace Coddington, will feature a bouquet of peach blossom, white musk, amber and Moroccan rose.
“My mother had a rose garden, and it just never occurred to me to smell like any other smell except rose,” @therealgracecoddington explains of the scent that she based her new fragrance on—a collaboration with @commedesgarcons launching April 19. "My mother had a rose garden, and it just never occurred to me to smell like any other smell except rose," she toldVogue in an interview.
In fact, one of the earliest perfumes Coddington remembers growing attached to was Floris's Red Rose eau de toilette, which she admits she applied with zeal in her early modeling days in the late '50s.
While she admits she dabbled in a Calvin Klein Original Eau de Toilette, Chanel No. 19 and Hermes Rose Ikebana Hermessence Perfume in the decades that followed, her heart always returned to her classic rose roots.
For those who like a lighter scent, Grace, which will be available starting April 19, may be the one for you.
"When I do wear perfume, I splash it all over — that's why it can't be too strong," says Coddington. A woman after our own heart.
